What is Democracy?

What? We a learning to understand what Democracy is.

Why? This will help us to understand Australia’s form of government.

How? I will be able to show my best efforts at recording key information and answer the questions.

  1. The things I know about democracy is that its 2 words (don’t know which ones)and that Democracy was made by Greeks.
    2: Some Greeks didn’t want war so they created democracy.

    1. I don’t really know what democracy is
    2. The Persians were wanting to attack the Greeks and they wanted to fight back. But not everyone was too keen on it. So they decided to let people (or in this case just men) vote.
    3. Demos meaning people, and kratos meaning power of rule
    4. A monarchy is where a king or queen rule and don’t let people have a say
    5. Because it’s when people got basic rights. That caused democracy to come back over the next few hundred years
    6. Representative democracy
    7. Politicians
    8. Other countries have an absolute monarchy which is where someone born into royalty has complete control over a country
    9. Now I understand what democracy is (where people have fair rights such as voting)
