The Very Hungry Caterpillar

For Literacy and Numeracy week the whole school used the picture story book ‘A Very Hungry Caterpillar’ for some fun and engaging writing and maths lessons.

Today 6S finished making displays to show our fraction and percentage version of the very hungry caterpillar.

Reader’s Workshop

5 Finger Retell

Today in our Reader’s Workshop we learnt how to use 5 finger retell. The students did a fantastic job of sharing information with a partner about the narrative they were reading today, it was great to see every student engaged in the process.

6 S can you tell me how doing this helps us with our reading?

Class Text

eragon book cover

Last week I started reading the book Eragon to the class.

The Author, Christopher Paolini was fifteen years old when he wrote the first draft of ERAGON and his family self-published the book in 2001. He was born in Southern California and lived most of his life in Paradise Valley, Montana with his parents and younger sister, Angela. The tall, jagged Beartooth Mountains that rise on one side of Paradise Valley inspired the fantastic scenery in ERAGON, the first novel in his Inheritance cycle.
